Is anyone else in disbelief that Halloween is just around the corner- where did the year go! As a DIY fanatic, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays as it gives me an excuse to take my creativity to the extreme with food, decor and costumes. As I was scrolling Pinterest looking at Halloween DIY’s this week I realized one thing that was severely lacking was sophisticated Halloween decor for adults! While I love creating DIY’s that Olivia and I can make together, I also think Halloween can be a glamorous and fun time to throw a party for the adults. So, I decided to take on the challenge of building a spooky halloween buffet that was equal parts functional and beautiful!
Armed with this challenge I created 5 different DIY’s that are super simple (and yummy!) that you can make at home. See below for more images, my tips and links to all of the DIY’s….
PS. Be sure to check out last year’s Halloween Facebook Live as I was able to convince my mom to go on air with me (so rare!) and we made a fun Fall cocktail and these adorable spider balloons.
DIY’s:
- Spooky Halloween Floral Arrangement
- Mummy Oreo Balls
- Gold Rosemary Parmesan Popcorn
- Apple Cider Sangria
- Spiderweb Black Bean Hummus
Tips & Tricks:
To begin building my bar I set up a folding table and placed a large mirror on it to add some more dimension and to give me a place to attach my spider web (totally optional!). I then began to build my buffet by placing items I had around the house (books, bins, etc) on the table to give myself varying heights to place things. I covered all of this with a large white tablecloth and a spider web tablecloth (from WorldMarket). Once the tablecloths were down and the height differences were where I wanted I began to place my spiderweb, being sure to cover the wall and leave enough to spill it over on to the table (secure with tape). I then placed trays, cake stands and serving platters to hold the food and decor. There is really no way to go wrong with this, simply give yourself enough time to play with the placement and always have more decor items on hand than you thought you would need!
