I can’t believe 2018 is almost over… where did all of the time go? I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready for 2019!
A great thing I did last year (and I have done for the past 12 years) was to create a vision board. I am determined to stay on track with some specific goals- eating healthy, staying active, more time with friends/family and spending more time outdoors with Liv. I’m also ready to set new career goals, too!
It is such a sense of accomplishment to look back and see how many of the goals I set for myself in 2018 that I was able to accomplish. It’s almost crazy. A few years before I had Olivia, I put a picture of a baby on the board and went I went back to look at it after Olivia was born. I was shocked to see the baby picture was a girl with light eyes and almost looked like her! I didn’t pay that much attention to the picture when posting it, because I just thought “baby”. Anyway, I’m just sharing that tidbit so you can be extra clear on what you’d like for 2019, because you may just get that exact same thing! 🙂 So here we are with a fresh new year ahead of us and it is time for a new board- I will be setting out goals for myself for this year and creating a new board and encourage you to join me! See below for my tips….

Make it PERSONAL
One of the things I found myself doing when I started this process was second guessing adding things to my vision board because I thought they were too small or not worthy of being on the board. Drinking more water, being more organized, picking up a new hobby- they may not be as grand as landing your dream job or buying a house but they are important none the less. Don’t edit your goals- make a list of everything big and small that you hope to accomplish and make it as personal as possible! I actually get together with friends to create my board, but if you feel like you would edit down your visions in front of other people,… it’s probably best to do it privately.
Make it BEAUTIFUL
Somewhat like a Pinterest board, your vision board should be full of images that inspire you and push you towards your goals. In order to stay on track with your vision, it’s important to have an emotional connection to the images and to display them in a prominent place (this will not work if they are shoved in the back of your closet!). So choosing beautiful visuals is an important factor here! There is no wrong way to display your board but hanging your images in gallery frames, using washi tape to adhere to an office wall or printing them as one large collage are some of my favorite ways! Make it HAPPEN
So what now? You have created your board, it is in a prominent location, but how do you turn those dreams into reality? For me, the key is to set and work towards short, actionable goals. Every big goal can be broken down into actionable steps that are the key to making your dreams into reality. The key is to remain consistent, be patient and persevere- some long term goals have been on my board for years and one day they will be a reality!
