I’m sure you have seen a ton of hanging planters popping up in some of your favorite home boutiques and magazines! The trend has definitely made a huge comeback. With that said, I get a lot of requests to do simple DIY projects that are easy, inexpensive and only using items that anyone can get at a local craft store (nothing fancy, nothing too complicated). So, I thought this would be a good one to share….
What you’ll need:
-Twine
-Planter (I used a 5 1/2 inch pot)
-Scissor
-Plant
Step 1: Cut six 60″ pieces of twine & tie into a knot at the end. This creates your planter “base”. Leave about an inch on one side of the knot & the rest of the length on the other side.
Step 2: Take two pieces of twine that are next to each other and tie them into a knot about two inches up from the base knot. Repeat this with the other four pieces of twine. You should now have three sections.
Step 3: Now take two pieces of twine that are next to each other but are from different sections and tie them into a knot two inches above the previous knot. Repeat this with the other four pieces of twine.
Step 4: Repeat step three two more times.
Step 5: Lastly place your planter into the twine holder you’ve just created. Now tie all six pieces of twine together at the opposite end and your macrame plant hanger is now ready to hang in a favorite spot!
Not only is this super easy to do, but it only took me a few minutes to make! What do you think?
