Interior Design & Inner Work

I am not done growing. Not done starting things I have no idea if I’m good or bad at. Not done becoming someone I haven’t fully met yet.

I am just getting started. And hosting an immersive retreat for 50+ women solidified it.

This experience was wildly terrifying. I was so nervous no one was going to show up. But they showed up and I did too. And the outcome was beyond anything I could have imagined.

I turn 50 this year and let the record stand: I am not done.

I grew up in a broken home with more ideas than money. Not exactly the resume you’d bet on.

Somehow that girl talked her way onto HGTV and built a career she’s really really proud of. She has new shows in the works and a new memoir (AH!) coming out in less than 6 months.

And yet the part I never saw coming is the life around it. I got divorced. I started over. I fell in love and got remarried at 48 after everyone said the good ones were already taken. And I married a man who makes me feel like the luckiest woman in the room.

This year I hosted a retreat that honestly scared me. The kind of thing old me would’ve talked herself right out of. I did it anyway.

All of this happened despite the cards I was dealt. I built it my way. On my own clock. Out of the exact life I was told I’d never have.

So when the doubt shows up and it still does, I let it say its piece. Then I remember where I came from. Doubt doesn’t get the final word.

I am not judgy, but I am honest. And the truth is your home is a reflection of what’s going on in your life.

I don’t say that to tell you to get your sh*t together. I say it to invite you to use your home as a tool to consider what’s going on in your life right now. And then ask yourself, “what do I want to do about it?”

I just spent 2 weeks in Mexico. These are the things I would repack if I was going to do it all over again.

Comment REPACK and I’ll send you the full list + links so your next trip packs itself. ☀️

I want to sleep good at night. Which means I need to know my daughter is too. #ad

I teamed up with @avocado.green on their Eco Organic Kids Mattress and it’s officially her new favorite spot in the house. GOTS-certified organic. Certified non toxic. And so comfy we end up hanging out on it when it’s not even bedtime.

It’s also America’s most affordable organic kids’ mattress, which means a lot to the high low girl.

Comment AVOCADO if you’re looking for a new mattress or want to upgrade yours. They come in all sizes.
